Last Week of Undergrad

Image
I find it crazy to think that today is my last day of undergrad. My four years of college is up. This is the last time my planner will look this crazy. Kinda emo but I knew it was coming. I customized the week based on my class schedule and I wanted to have a section dedicated to what I have due during the week, some due dates if I have any for the following week, and Program Board because I hold an e-board position.

TikTok

Image
Did a business presentation on TikTok today for my business communication class. I have a lot of assignments due this week that my time management is through the roof. I did this presentation in 24 hours. I did research for 2 days and then last night was when I compiled all of the information into a powerpoint presentation.

University Research Day

Image
Today was University Research Day where students from undergrad and grad and professors presented their research that they have been working on all year. For one of my business classes, we could get extra credit if we write about a presentation. Normally this is conducted in person in the Pryz where they can talk to people face to face about their research. I feel bad that the people who were expected to presented today had to adjust and make sure their work is possible virtually. I have never attended University Research Day until today and I am impressed with how interesting some of the topics are! Kudos to all the participants!

Couchella

Image
Program Board presents the first ever virtual Open Mic Night: Couchella! Program Board went on instagram live this evening for Couchella and invited our performers to sing a song or two for the CUA community that tuned in. It was so awesome to see community through this time and support each other from the comfort of our own homes.

Smoothie Kick

Image
I am not a coffee drinker so my mornings are pretty boring when it comes to breakfast drinks. I have always loved smoothies but never took the time to make it myself. Now that we're in quarantine, I obviously have no excuse this time so I am forcing myself to make fruit smoothies for breakfast. I also should add that I am not much of a breakfast eater in general but I do like brunch. These past couple of weeks I've been making a lot of strawberry and banana smoothies with yogurt but we have recently run out which forces me to do other alternatives. My dad recently bought sunny d which I think is a real game-changer with my smoothies. This morning I made my mom and me strawberry, banana, blueberry and sunny d smoothies and it's probably the best smoothie I have ever made.

Virtual Exams

Image
Even though we're online for classes, that will not disrupt the class schedule including taking exams. Luckily our exams are open book and we have 48 hours to complete it. Today's exam took me 2 hours and 5 minutes to complete which included me going into the lecture slides to find the answer. I tried to take notes and study for a good 5 minutes but realized it wasn't worth it. I passed and now I await the next assignment.

Senior Nonuplets

Image
Tonight, the senior members of Program Board hopped on a zoom call to catch up and help each other brainstorm paper plate awards. It was so nice to see each other and talk for almost 2 hours. It's nice to talk to a group of people who are on the same boat. We had many laughs and similar opinions about the current state of commencement. Missed them!

Virtual Guest Speaker

Image
This morning for my ENT 455 class, we had a guest speaker- Robert from DC Fray. He shared how his business is doing and what they are doing during this time. It was really interesting how real he was to a bunch of college students and encouraged us to help out in any way that we can. He talked about the raffle he is doing to support his staff, small businesses, and front line medical personnel that have been affected by the coronavirus.  https://go.rallyup.com/frayrover

Virtual Presentation

Image
Multitasking as we listen to everyone's presentations and rate their delivery. I hate having to rate everyone because I wanna be nice and give them good ratings but there were definitely a few that I couldn't understand and I was torn on what to write for then. I feel like if we were to do this in person, I would still feel the same way about rating everyone. My professor said overall we all did good but we need to stop looking down at our computers which he tried to be nice about since we haven't done this before.

Virtual Speeches

Image
Even though we all cannot meet in-person to listen to the presidential speeches, the show must go on!  Program Board gathered on zoom to listen to Hannah and Bella's presidential speeches as they prepare to be on the ballot for elections.

Another Zoom Class

Image
Zoom University is slowly taking into effect. This is now my third class that meets on zoom. It was weird seeing everyone again because this was the last class I was physically in and the last group of people that I saw before spring break happened. My professor, top left, would like to meet once a week to talk and see everyone's faces. He wants to do part 2 of our project on April 7 and see if it will work out with everyone online. He also announced that we will have our third exam in a couple of weeks and it will be the same format at the one we took last week. I haven't heard from this class in a whole that I actually forgot about it until today. Haha.

Strolling

Image
I stepped outside for the first time in weeks since coming back home because of the coronavirus and took some of these photos for class. It was a cold afternoon and it started to drizzle as I made my way back home. I am such a homebody that I don't mind staying indoors but it did feel weird going outside for the first time in weeks and getting fresh air.

Learning Through Instagram Live

Image
Watched an Instagram live between Andrew who owns CYM, Timber & Turu's and Danny from @eatthecapital talk about Andrew's businesses. I voluntarily watched this Instagram live because one of Andrew's business partners visit my class about two months about talking about their small business so it was interesting to hear what's going on with them now during this pandemic.

Notice of Intent to Vacate

Image
Today, my roommate and I signed the notice of intent to vacate from our apartment. Something that everyone is required to do. It was a sad thing because we have made so many memories in the past nine months that we have been living here. We're both moving back home after the semester is over so there isn't a reason for us to keep the apartment.

Virtual Presentation Be Like....

Zoom Presentations Learned something new about zoom! If someone is presenting their screen someone else can request to move the mouse and take over the screen. This is how we did some of the presentations during this zoom class. It's honestly a game changer and i'm glad we can move forward and take advantage of this new feature.

Morning Zoom Class

Image
ENT 455 ZOOM CLASS 9:45 AM This is my ENT 455 class via zoom this morning. I was almost late this morning because I hit snooze on my 9:30 AM alarm and only had 5 minutes to get up, get ready, and get online. We had an hour-long conversation discussing how we are all doing and what are the business like in our area. ENT stands for entrepreneurship and I decided to take this class this semester to gain more of an understanding of small businesses and potentially work with some of them. After working for a small business marketing agency in the fall, they inspired me to learn more about it. Unfortunately, due to everything that is going on now, the class has to pivot and lean more towards basic research and staying up to date with the news. The clients we were potentially going to work with have now shut down temporary and it's the risk they are willing to take. It's a bummer but at least it's one less class I have to worry about.

Online Meetings Be Like...

Image
Program Board via Google Meet For the past 3.75 years, I have given up two hours of my evening every Monday dedicated Program Board meetings. For 2 hours, our board discusses past and upcoming events that we plan and execute for the campus community throughout the academic year. This was our first and definitely not last virtual meeting. With heavy hearts during the beginning of this meeting, we had to officially tell our board that all of our events are canceled for the rest of the semester due to the coronavirus. Our board works so hard every day to bring community and make people happy. Love everyone on this board.

Online Classes Be Like...

Image
Cell Phone Photography Class via Google Meet  What a weird week it has been as we transition into having online classes for the rest of the semester. This wasn't how I pictured my last two months of college to be. As a graduating senior, it's been difficult, I'm not going to lie. I am very involved on and off-campus so with everything that's going on, my whole world did a whole 360.

Spring Break - Friday 3/13

Image
~Spring Break Documentary in Photos series~   >Life of an intern<  I was about to leave my apartment this morning until I got an email from my boss work from home because the whole office will be on a half day schedule. First time I worked from home all semester.  Working from was actually really difficult because everything in my apartment distracted me. Time check, it's 8:44 PM which means it's dinner time. I am having pizza for dinner because it's Lent and I'm finishing up the season for Love is Blind. It's an interesting show which gave me a new perspective on dating a stranger.

Spring Break - Thursday 3/12

Image
~Spring Break Documentary in Photos series~   >Life of an intern<  First time check, it's 10:09 AM. It was a busy morning when I first got into the office today.  Time Check, it's 4:25 PM and I am sitting at reception for my desk shift. Answering calls and greeting the mail delivery people while cleaning up an excel sheet full of data from last year's Tech Titans event.

Shadow

Image
Light and Shadow |Framing|  Closed my door just enough to create a shadow on the bathroom door while the light in my room reflected on the door too

Basilica Trip

Image
Application: Photoshop  Theme: Light Source  Symbolism: Hope  Left Photo: Reflection of candle offerings inside a sanctuary Right Photo: Sunset reflection of the windows I loved how we can see the reflection of the candles on the wall and it's all well lit up because so many people made offerings. I also loved how the light of the other windows across reflected again this window and how colorful and vibrant this side is with the light shining through. These two images symbolizes hope because when visitors light a candle they are hoping for something to happen and when people come into a church, they pray and hope for good and better things to happen. The theme of the light source ties in with the light leading the way and providing hope for the hopeful.

Light Trail

Image
App: Slow Camera Light Source: Flash Light I was trying to draw a triangle but didn't realize that I kept moving and this is what came out. In a way it looks like a bowtie which is more fun looking than a triangle. I used a tripod to hold my phone and had my brother as my assistant to press the button to capture this image.
